In reply to your letter of the 7th instant we have to inform you that according to our latest advices from the Straits Settlements, the amount of our note circulation was:-

$311,035 on 8th December at Singapore and $600,075 on 30th November, at Penang,

Without reference to us these Branches may issue between them notes to the extent of $2,250,000, but we do not anticipate that there will be any great increase over the figures of the actual issue above quoted. Trusting this information will meet your requirements.
